Today we have successfully deployed an implementation of BlogEngine ASP.NET Blog / CMS on the Uhuru Cloud.
Creating services, and deploying applications on the Uhuru Cloud is easy, the interface is intuitive and the available data services and platforms is extensive. The user interface leaves somethings to be desired, but we think they will be able to address this before the service is out of beta.
What is The Uhuru Cloud?
The Uhuru Cloud is a fully functional multi-platform Platform as a Service(PaaS) for deploying and managing applications on the Cloud.
The Uhuru AppCloud is designed to automatically deploy applications on web servers without any special configuration.
The ease and speed of publishing applications to the Uhuru Cloud and not having to be concerned with the underlying server architecture enables more time well spent on developing applications. Combined with the auto scaling nature of a cloud based system, the selection of available pre-installed platforms like .NET, Java, PHP and Ruby and a variety of open source application templates that can be deployed with the click of a button, including Drupal, Joomla, Magento, Orchard CMS, SugarCRM, Umbraco and WordPress, and of course your own unmodified applications, we think the Uhuru Cloud is a great idea and is likely to be a success.
We have worked with many public and private Clouds including Microsoft's Azure and Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud, Uhuru is by far the easiest to use and the included resources are more than adequate to get your applications into the Cloud. Using the Uhuru Cloud frees you from all of the configuration typically associated with Cloud based application deployment.
Setting up an account on Uhuru App Cloud is a easy, as they are using 3 popular authentication providers, which are Microsoft, Google and Facebook, it is just a matter of connecting the Uhuru application to one of these providers, this saves time and makes it so you don't need to remember a lot of extra login information.
Instantly available database services include MSSQL, MySQL, Redis, MongoDB, rabbitMQ and UhuruFS.
There is built-in support for all popular Open Source languages including Java, Scala, Ruby, Node, Erlang, PHP, C#, as well as support for all popular Open Source frameworks including Spring, Grails, Express, Rails, Lift, MochiWeb, .NET.
After logging in, the user interface is easy to understand and use. Click the + button to deploy a pre-installed Open source application or add one of the available data services. Uhuru also provides a desktop based Uhuru App Cloud Manager which enables you to deploy your own applications just as easily. They also provide a Visual Studio plugin that enable the publishing of your applications to the Uhuru Cloud directly from your Visual Studio IDE.
Below is a summary of the Uhuru Cloud Features
- Applications can be easily deployed with the click of a few buttons to multiple servers.
- Maximum reliability is ensured with Automatic fail-over.
- Automatic load balancing allows your applications to handle the heaviest traffic loads.
- Extensions for existing integrated development environments (IDEs) like Visual Studio and Eclipse make it easy to deploy your apps to the cloud and manage them.
- Granular member control enables you to define teams of engineers who can collaborate on applications.
